The Village of Oxford Fire Department started in 1823 and has a proud tradition of service to its community for over 200 hundred years. Our department consists of approximately 50 members with a various range of years of service and different levels of expertise. Countless hours are spent in training and response into our community.
We run out of a 50-year-old station with 1 frontline engine, 2 tankers, 1 ladder tower, 1 brush truck, and 2 ambulances. Additionally, we operate a UTV and air-boat to serve and deploy within and outside of our fire district.
Our fire district size encompasses over 80 square miles which is rural and we provide emergency response into the Town of Preston and Smithville through contracted services. We serve approximately 6000 residents and thousands who pass by daily. We provide mutual aid to every department around us and beyond when needed.
Our department provides multiple services to our community including fire suppression, motor vehicle accident response, rescue services, fire prevention activities just to name a few. We have different categories of participation within our department including: EMS both ALS and BLS, Fire Prevention Educator, Fire Police, Firefighter, Auxiliary or CERT member, Wildland Firefighter, Rope Rescue Technician, Wildland Search and Rescue, and Swift Water Rescue Services.
The Oxford Fire Department members take pride in the equipment that the department members have put into this department by working Bingo on Friday nights. Over 8 pieces of apparatus have been bought either partially or in whole with Bingo funds as well as numerous donations to other organizations throughout our community. In all, over $3 million has been put back into the community through Bingo funds.
We believe in always moving forward, learning from our past and embracing the future in an effort to strive and make a better department to respond to the calls of tomorrow.
We are always looking for new members and are currently and constantly taking applications for membership, if you are interested, please contact us.
